In our proposal for a new Culture house in Luleå we have focused on organizing and designing the different integral activities, art gallery, library and concert hall, around a large central entrance hall. Together with a large outdoor terrace this will serve as a new public space in Luleå- a town close to the arctic circle that doesn´t always have a pleasant outdoor climate. This new public space is covered by a generous cantilevered roof. Located in the middle of the building facing the terrace is also the café and restaurant.
A plain and rational supportive structure will allow a great variation of expression in the different functions. It will also give flexibility and allow change over time. The chosen materials, the kind that age well, will contribute to a robust feeling.
